Your Online Photo Frame
If you are searching for a good digital photo frame to store the photographs of your family and friends then the reviews of some of the best photo frames provided here under can help you in choosing one for you.
Digital photo frames are a fantastic buy and work well for anyone who wants to show off their photo collection without having to alter the photo and send them off to be printed. They are also great as you don’t have to direct people to a photo album and can instead simply have it running in the background showing all your photo’s one after another.
These types of photo frames have come down in price massively over the last few years to a point where you can now buy a digital photo frame that will connect to the internet meaning that you can view your photo’s across the wireless networks or through the use of an SD card.
This type maybe slightly more expensive than the basic digital photo frames where you have to upload your photo’s through an SD card, but having this facility to directly play your photo’s across the internet makes the whole process very easy and thus this is a key factor that you should look for when buying a digital photo frame.
Things To Look Out For
Appearance - Yes everyone’s tastes are very different, however a photo frame can stick out terribly in a room or blend in with your decor. Appearance is therefore important, however make sure that you don’t buy a photo frame just because it looks nice. It will drive you wild if it does not work correctly.
Screen Size - Again this really depends on the size of the room and what you plan to do with it, however we would recommend that you don’t buy anything smaller that 10Inches otherwise it becomes really difficult to see the image unless your right in front of the screen,
Storage Capacity - You should be looking for a storage capacity of at least 500 photo’s as units that are smaller than this simply do not offer the freedom or flexibility meaning that you will spend your life uploading pictures to be shown to your guests. The top of the range models can easily store 5,000 photo’s which offers you fantastic flexibility and means your guest are not viewing the same picture twice during an afternoon.
Video Clips - Look out for models that will also play your video clips as this is something that is especially useful if you’re anything like us and have a selection of both video and pictures taken over the summer.
Smart Playback - This very simply means that the unit will automatically work out the date and time each photo was taken and therefore play them in the correct order meaning that you don’t have to organise your photo’s into a specific order and therefore saves you a whole bunch of time.
Extra Features - Digital photo frames are rather expensive to run and you would be shocked at how much it cost’s if leave it on over night. For this reason, look out for models that offer motion sensors or sleep timers meaning that they shut off when no one is around.
Price - As always price is important as for the most of us we don’t have an un-limited budget. We would highly recommend that you avoid buying cheap imports or those digital photo frames that you can buy from your local supermarket as whilst they will do the job fine, they tend to perform badly and do not last over the longer term meaning that you’re going to buy yourself another frame in the future. Our top four models might be slightly more expensive than a lot of models on the market, but they come from Brands that have been developing products over the last few years and make digital photo frames that will offer fantastic performance and great reliability.
Digital Photo Frame Reviews
The Nixplay 18.5 inch Wi-Fi Cloud Digital Photo Frame is our favourite digital photo frame on the market in 2017 and of all the models that we have tested and bought over the years, the digital photo frame we actually own today. One point before we start, it's huge and not for everyone.
If you don't want a huge 18.5 Inch digital photo frame, skip this model and head directly down to the Koolertron below.
We bought it for a few reason, firstly it comes with an 18.5 inch, high resolution screen that offer fantastic viewing ability from further away and at all angles meaning that the whole family can watch playback whilst sat on the sofa.
Secondly is very portable meaning that it's light to pick up and move around whilst at the same time has been built with enough features and storage to keep you happy in the long run.
As and example, the digital photo frame is compatible to Android and iPhone Apps, FaceBook, Email, Instagram, Picasa and Dropbox platforms to send and receive the photos of you loved ones. It allows you to store your photos online securely and safely.

The Nixplay play above is firmly the best digital photo frame on the market however it's a big photo frame which is not to everyone's taste. If you're in the market for a slightly small photo frame then check out the Koolertron Digital photo frame that comes with a crystal clear 12 inch screen and a selection of features.
The 12 inch screen is perfect for displaying HD photos with your family and friends especially at the occasions like Christmas. The 12 inch screen is crystal clear thanks to it's 800 x 600 high resolution screen with a unique LED backlight.
Not only does the Koolertron come with a crystal clear screen, but it's also packed full of useful features that you will use including remote control, backlight, SD support, slide show, MMC, MS and USB2.0.
Set up is easy thanks to the touch screen and easy interface menu system that makes setting the time, organising the automatic on/off times and setting the calendar very easy. To start using the digital photo frame, firstly you need to insert an external USB card or SD card as the photo frame does not contain an internal memory.
It does not come with a battery and therefore will need to be plugged into the mains at all time. There is also no battery meaning that if the power is cut, the screen switches off.
Other Key Features
- The contrast ratio of its images is 400: 1.
- It comes with two, two watt speakers on either side the photo frame which provides okay sound quality.
- It supports music files in MP3 format, video files in MPEG1, MPEG2 and MPEG4 formats and pictures in JPEG format.
- It supports languages including English, Chinese, German, French, Spanish and Italian.

Overall the Koolertron is a fantastic 12 Inch digital photo frame that offers a simple easy to use interface menu system and real value for money. If you're not interested in the best digital photo frame being the Nixplay, then you will have no problem enjoying the Koolertron and we're not the only ones who have bought and enjoyed this photo-frame - there are over 200 reviews on Amazon.co.uk here, of which the majority are positive.
The Kodak EasyShare is a fantastic photo frame if you're looking for a small photo frame to have in your office desk. It comes with a small 8 inch screen and honestly this is the smallest we would go. There are smaller photo frames on the market, however when you start going smaller, it starts to become hard to see the screen unless you're right in front of it.
The Kodak comes with a high resolution 8 inch screen, 800 X 600 pixels display and all Kodak's years of experience at developing and manufacturing photographic equipment. When you're buying a Kodak, you know that you're buying a quality product that is built to last and will not let you down.
What's great about the Kodak is that it's so easy to use. Kodak have made both the uploading of pictures to the internal 512MB memory (easily holding 1,000 photo's) easily using the free software or using either as external SDcard or USD card, the Kodak allows you simply using the touch screen and menu system to show these pictures directly from the memory source.
It's pretty basic in design and therefore does not come with a range of different features, but that it the price you pay for a value for money product that is easy to use and built to last. Features it does come with include the ability to be compatible to all USB and memory cards and use of Kodak's free image software which allow you to not only upload your pictures to the photo-frame, but also re-size them to make sure that you can fit as many pictures as you want onto your digital photo frame.
Performance is fantastic mostly thanks to Kodak's patented Colour Science technology which helps to keep your images crystal clear. We also love the fact that it comes across well received across the internet. if you want to check out the Amazon.co.uk review here, there are over 120 of them with the average being 4.1 stars and over 50% of users rating it 5-out of-5. Personally it's a bit small, but if you want a great small digital photo frame, then look at the Kodak.
Other Notable Photo Frames
Living Images 21-Inch Memory View Digital Photo Frame
The Living Images Photo Frame is huge and expensive, but comes with a range of features, a crystal clear screen and the ability to play photo's and video's (supports videos in MPEG2, MPEG4, RMVB, H.264 and AVI formats). If you want a wall mounted photo frame that's the size of a TV, then take a look a this photo frame.
NIX Advance - 12 inch Digital Photo & HD Video
We think the Nixplay 18.5 Inch is the best digital photo frame on the market, but the size is not for everyone. Nixplay do make smaller models of the which this 12 Inch fits the bill. The 12 Inch comes with similar features to include 800 X 600 Pixel photo display and 720p HD video playback. Not our favourite, but a good option.
Andoer 10-inch LCD Digital Photo Picture Frame
The Andoer 10-inch LCD Digital Photo Picture Frame is a great option for someone wanting a mid-sized digital photo frame. It comes with high resolution (1024*600) pictures and 720p HD video playback. What drives us crazy is the software does not allow for raw or cropped pictures. It will only take Jpeg pictures that have not been edited. If you can deal with this, it's a cracker.
